1:Introduction:
Welcome to Express Removals & Storage! We appreciate your business and aim to make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible. By accepting our quotation, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined in this contract. 2:Vehicle and Staff Information:
Vehicle Capacity and Staffing: Our base quote includes 3 items, a bakkie, and 2 team members. Additional items will incur extra charges based on the pricing on our online form. If extra assistance is needed for heavy items, access restrictions, or time constraints, additional charges will apply for the extra team member.
Arrival Time Flexibility: Although we do our best to be on time please keep a 3 hour window open for delays or early arrivals due to unforeseen circumstances in our schedule. We will keep you informed of any changes and appreciate your flexibility on the day of your move.
3:Quotation Restrictions, Pricing and Exclusions:
Please note that changes to your initial quote may affect the final price. It’s important to note that this courier service is not meant to replace a full home removal. To ensure accuracy and avoid any surprises, inform us of any discrepancies, adjustments, or additional information related to your courier job. Factors that may impact the quotation include, but are not limited to:
Inventory Changes:
Our pricing is based on the number of loads needed to complete your move. The total number of loads required depends on factors such as the size and weight of your items, as well as any packing restrictions. While we provide an estimate for the number of loads, please note that this is not a guarantee. In some cases, an extra load may be necessary.
Should an additional load be required, we will always inform you in advance and update your quote accordingly. By providing clear and detailed information about your items and requirements, we can offer a more accurate quote and minimize the need for adjustments during the moving process.
Special Items: Inform us of any items that require special handling or care, such as artwork, antiques, pianos, or other delicate items. Additional charges may apply for special handling services, and we may need to make arrangements for specialized equipment or personnel.
Packing and Unpacking Services: If you require our team’s assistance with packing or unpacking your belongings, please inform us in advance so that we can include these services in your quote.
Assembly and Disassembly: Let us know if you need help with disassembling or reassembling furniture or other items during the move, as this may impact the overall cost.
Parking and Permits: Be aware of any parking restrictions or permit requirements at the pickup and delivery locations. Any additional costs or fines incurred due to inadequate parking arrangements will be charged to the client.
Heavy & Large Items:We regret that we cannot hoist furniture over balconies or perform other non-standard moving tasks. Items that are too large or heavy for our team to move may be subject to extra charges or left behind, at Express Removals’ discretion. We will always strive to assist you wherever possible.
4:Extra Charges
Extra charges may be added on the day due to possible restrictions or delays. These include but are not limited to the below list.
It’s essential to communicate with us regarding any special requirements or restrictions, such as fragile or valuable items or challenging access. Please note that delays may occur due to circumstances beyond our control, such as extreme weather, road closures, or other emergencies. As such, we recommend flexibility on your part regarding arrival times.
Added Items: Please note that any additional items added to the courier job will be charged at an extra fee based on the pricing on our online quote form. It’s important to note that this courier service is not meant to replace a full home removal.
Stairs: An additional charge of R150 per flight will apply if there are more stairs than initially declared, or if lift access is denied and stairs must be used.
Long Carry: If the distance from the vehicle to the door is between 20 and 50 meters, a charge of R450 will apply. If the distance exceeds 50 meters, the client will be charged at the shuttle rate.
Delay: A charge of R350 per hour will apply for any delays experienced during the move.
Parking and Toll: Any parking and toll fees incurred during the move will be billed to the client accordingly.
Packing, Wrapping, and Unpacking Services: Charges for these services are subject to our packaging and packing service price list.Unpacking and Packing are charged at the same rate.
Extra Porter : R350 per porter – Additional porters may be required for heavier items, access restrictions, time constraints, or other specific needs during the move.
Public Holiday or Sunday Charge : A surcharge of R950 applies for moves scheduled on Sundays or public holidays. Please note that any discounts applied to your quote will not be applicable for moves on these days, and the surcharge will be added in addition to the regular moving fee.
Assembly and Disassembly Service: R100 per item – Our team can assist with the disassembly and assembly of furniture and large items during your move. This service ensures easier transportation, reduces the risk of damage, and helps accommodate items that may not fit through doors or lifts. We charge a fee of R100 per item for this specialized handling.
Overnight Holding Charge: A fee of R950 for temporarily storing your belongings at our facility overnight due to factors beyond your control. If storage is required for more than one day, additional charges will apply at our standard monthly storage rates, which can be found on our website.
5:Cancellation Charges
Cancellations within 72 hours of the scheduled move date: If a client cancels the booking within 72 hours before the scheduled move date, a cancellation fee of 30% of the total booking amount will be charged.
Cancellations on the day of the move: If the client cancels the booking on the day of the scheduled move, a cancellation fee of 100% of the total quote value will be charged.
Rescheduling: Clients who wish to reschedule their move to another date within 30 days of the original move date may do so, subject to availability. In this case, 50% of the cancellation fee charged will be applied as a credit towards the new booking.
Refunds: For cancellations made more than 72 hours before the scheduled move date, refunds will be provided, minus a R100 administration and bank charges fee. Additionally, any applicable penalty fees (such as the 30% cancellation fee) will be deducted from the total refunded amount.
6:Protecting Your Goods
Blankets and Packaging: Our vehicles are equipped with blankets to safeguard your belongings during transit, but we strongly advise using extra packing materials for enhanced protection. You can collect packaging from our offices or have it delivered for an added fee. Please make arrangements ahead of time to prevent moving day delays.
Liability Limitations: We are not responsible for losses or damages to your possessions caused by natural disasters, civil disturbances, or other events beyond our control. Furthermore, we cannot be held accountable for damages, such as scratches or dents, that may occur during loading, transport, or unloading, despite our careful handling efforts.
7:Scheduling and Timing
Scheduling and Timing: We strive to be punctual, but our arrival times are estimates and may vary. Your flexibility is appreciated due to the nature of our business. In case of unforeseen events beyond our control, such as extreme weather, road closures, or emergencies, we reserve the right to reschedule your move to the next available date without additional charges. Please keep a 3 hour window open for delays or early arrivals due to unforeseen circumstances in our schedule.

8:Payment Terms
Payment Terms: Goods will only be offloaded upon receipt of payment. Ensure you make suitable arrangements to prevent delays, as these incur a R350 per hour (incl. VAT) charge. The signatory is liable for settling the account. Unpaid accounts will result in items being stored at the owner’s expense until payment is made. Cancellations with less than 72 hours’ notice incur a R200 (incl. VAT) fee. If relocation is canceled on the day, the full amount for the first load will be due or deducted from any pre-paid amount.
9:Claims and Dispute Resolution
Claims and Dispute Resolution: For any disputes or claims regarding our services, please complete our “Client Feedback and Resolution Form” within 7 days after the move’s completion. We are dedicated to resolving issues amicably and will collaborate with you to reach a satisfactory resolution.
10:Insurance Coverage
Insurance Coverage: It is highly recommended that clients secure appropriate insurance coverage for their possessions during the move. Our company can provide information on available insurance options or clients may choose to arrange their own coverage through a third-party insurer. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to the client’s belongings resulting from natural disasters, civil unrest, or any other events beyond our control. Additionally, damages such as scratches or dents that may occur during the loading, transportation, or unloading process, despite our best efforts to handle items with care, will not be covered.
Transit Insurance: We offer up to R50,000 coverage per truck load at a rate of 1.5% of the total insured value. For example, insurance for R50,000 will cost R750. This coverage only applies to total loss incidents such as write-offs or hijacking of the vehicle.
11:Special Handling Requirements
Please inform us of any items requiring special handling or care during the move, such as artwork, antiques, pianos, or other delicate items. Additional charges may apply for special handling services, and we may need to make arrangements for specialized equipment or personnel.

12:Disposal and Recycling Services
If you have any unwanted items that need to be disposed of or recycled before or after the move, please inform us in advance. We can provide a quote for the removal and proper disposal or recycling of furniture, appliances, and other household items.
Please note that certain items, such as electronics or hazardous materials, may require special disposal methods and additional charges may apply. We are committed to environmentally friendly practices and will ensure that all items are disposed of or recycled properly.
13:Client or Representative Presence
To ensure a smooth and efficient move, we highly recommend that the client or a designated representative be present during the loading and unloading process. This allows for any questions to be answered, instructions to be provided, and the condition of the items being moved to be confirmed.
During the move, the company shall comply with the representative’s instructions. However, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that communication with the representative is clear and accurate.
14:Moving Checklist
Moving Checklist: To ensure a smooth and efficient move, please complete the following tasks before your move:
- Disconnect and prepare appliances for transport.
- Wrap fragile items with care and label them accordingly.
- Identify and separate any sentimental or valuable items for separate transportation.
- Dismantle large furniture pieces to make it easier for transportation.
- Secure fridges, cabinets, and bookcases and clear any contents inside.
- Pack and seal small items in boxes, labeling them clearly.
- Arrange for keys to be available for your new premises.
- Ensure parking and access arrangements for the vehicle are in place.
